71st Independence Day: Tripura Chief Minister asks people to protect communal harmony

AGARTALA (INDIA): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today appealed to the people of the state to protect communal harmony and peace in the state which are the main preconditions for development.nnHe hoisted the national flag at the Assam rifles parade ground here and took the salute of different security forces and NCC on the Independence Day.nn”With cooperation of the people, the state had crushed the insurgency in the state and paved the way for development.nnBut now we are observing that a force which supported the insurgency earlier is now trying to divide people in the state and break the communal harmony and peace,” Sarkar said.nn”But we must remember that peace is the precondition of development,” the chief minister said.nnNo one died of hunger in the state which topped in literacy in the country and therefore everyone must be conscious that peace is not disturbed, he said.nnSarkar said that a force trying to mix politics with religion was active to destroy secular fabric of the country.nn”We must always remember that unity and diversity is the main spirit of the country and we must upheld that spirit. We must ensure the freedom of all communities irrespective of caste, creed and religion,” he added.nnSource: Press Trust of India
