NEW DELHI (INDIA): West Bengal government has appointed Atri Bhattacharya as the new secretary for home and hill affairs after Additional Chief Secretary Malay Kumar De, who was looking after the department, took over charge as the new chief secretary in a bureaucratic reshuffle.nnBhattacharya, the Principal Secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs department, will be replaced by Vivek Kumar, principal secretary of higher education science & technology department and biotechnology department, a notification issued by the state government said.nnBhattacharya will also have the additional charge of tourism department and parliamentary affairs department.nnDe took over as the new chief secretary following retirement of Basudeb Banerjee from the post today.nnBanerjee will be the State Chief Information Commissioner. He will continue at the post for five years or till he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.nnAnil Verma, who was principal secretary, self help group & self employment department and consumer affairs department, was made the new health secretary, the notification said.nnRS Shukla, additional chief secretary, health & family welfare department, was shifted to higher education science & technology department and biotechnology department, it said.nnSource: Press Trust of India
