Organizations must adapt reskilling and upskilling: Rajesh Agrawal
NEW DELHI: Organizations must adapt re-skilling and upskilling due to the constant need to upgrade skill-sets to efficiently handle a wide variety of tasks and stay relevant. The industry needs to come forward to give inputs on the skill sets it requires and work with the government on long-term policies, said Rajesh Agrawal, Joint Secretary & CVO – Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India while addressing the CII HR Crystal Ball 2018, held in New Delhi today.nnHe stressed upon the need to have not only a good educational ecosystem but also the need to leverage on the learning ecosystem.nnSachit Jain, Chairman, CII Northern Region and Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Vardhman Special Steels Ltd shared his views on the future scenario of a very diverse workforce where the organizations will have to manage employees of different nationalities. He suggested that the organizations must be culturally ready to leverage the diversity and people sensitivity must change.nnS Y Siddiqui, Executive Advisor, Maruti Suzuki India Limited while setting the context said, ?For the country to become the workplace of the future, HR needs to evolve as a strategic business partner. The challenge for the year 2030 would be to deal with the extraordinary phase of globalization.?nnHe observed that the geographical boundaries are fading for diverse businesses across industries. For auto industry, he said that the global forces are driving the fuel prices-highest ever today along with the steel production and consumption across the globe. This would require industries and companies to look at their business strategies to invest in technologies with people being their competitive edge.nnAnurag Aman, Partner KPMG India shared a few highlights of the CII-KPMG report ?Workplace of the Future? based on in-depth study of digitalization and a multigenerational workforce across multiple organizations. Going forward, he emphasized that the leadership must focus on training for the future roles, communicate the digitalization agenda, shaping a meaningful digital EVP and build engagement levels across the generational workforce.nnP Dwarakanath, Chairman-GSK Consumer Healthcare Ltd, said, ?The core leadership priority is to be sensitive about the culture. Leadership needs to cope up with the diversity and be adaptive to be able to survive. Organizations today need to focus on a macro-economic environment, and continuously adapt the organizational strategy. Ability to manage global workforce with global mindset, adopt, understand and appreciate their culture, work life integration.?nnVinod Sharma, Managing Director, Deki Electronics Ltd emphasized the importance of bringing digitalization to the blue collared workforce with effective trainings generating a high impact.
