Apna Dal wins more seats than Congress in Uttar Pradesh
NEW DELHI (INDIA): Congress which contested on 105 seats in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections could manage to win only seven seats, where BJP ally Apna Dal (Soneylal) Apna Dal (Soney Lal) bagged nine out of the 12 assembly seats.nnCongress has contested election with Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party.nnAnupriya Patel, President of Apna Dal (Soneylal), is a minister in BJP-led Narendra Modi Cabinet.nnThe party led by Patel, who is a Union minister in the NDA government at the Centre, had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in alliance with BJP.nnAt the end of vote counting, the BJP bagged 312 seats on its own with a nearly 40 per cent vote share and with allies Apna Dal (Soneylal Patel) and Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (won 4 seats) (SBSP) their strength goes up to 324 in a House of 403. The BJP had just 47 seats in the outgoing House.nnThe previous best showing by BJP in UP was in 1991, at the height of Ram Janam Bhoomi movement, when it got majority on its own winning 221 seats out of 425 in an undivided state.nnThe highest number of seats bagged by a single party in the UP assembly polls was in 1977 when Janata Party got 352 seats when Uttarakhand was part of the state.nnThe winner are Rahul Prakash, Har Iram, Jai Kumar Jacky, Leena Tiwari ,Sangam Lal Gupta ,Neel Ratan Singh Patel, Amar Singh Chaudhary,Jamuna Saroj, Dr R K Verma,
