BJP Mandalgarh MLA dies of swine flu
JAIPUR (INDIA): BJP MLA from Mandalgarh in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, Kirti Kumari, today died of swine flu at a private hospital in the city.nnThe 50-year-old was admitted to Fortis Hospital yesterday from the state-run SMS Hospital following complication in breathing due to swine flu, Medical Superintendent of Fortis Hospital, Dr Shrikant Swami said.nnShe breathed her last this morning, he said.nnKumari was later cremated in Bijolia in Bhilwara district.nnBefore her funeral, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, state BJP President Ashok Parnami, ministers in the state government and BJP office bearers paid obeisance.nnRaje condoled her death, saying it was an irreparable loss for the BJP.nnKumari, who belonged to the royal Bijolia family, held various positions in committees of Rajasthan Assembly and within the organisation.nnAs the news of her demise spread, a pall of gloom descended on Mandalgarh and among party ranks.nnMeanwhile, the SMS Hospital administration denied the allegations of it failing to provide proper medical facilities to the swine flu afflicted BJP MLA, saying a team of three senior professors was formed to provide medical care and specialists from a Gurgaon-based private hospital were also consulted.nnMedical Superintendent of the SMS Hospital, Dr D S Meena said that Kumari was brought to the hospital in critical condition on August 26.nnShe was put on ventilator in medical ICU ward, he added.nnMeena said that on the request of her family, specialists from Gurgaon-based Medanta Hospital were consulted who advised using Ecmo machine on the patient.nn”As the machine was not available at the hospital, the patient was shifted to the Fortis Hospital on the request of her family members and complete medical history and course of treatment was provided to the doctors of the private hospital,” the MS of SMS Hospital added.nnSource: Press Trust of India
