CRPF constables jump in gushing stream to save girl from drowning in Jammu and Kashmir
NEW DELHI: Five CRPF personnel on Monday rescued an 14-year-old girl from drowning in a stream at Kunzer Tangmarg in North Kashmir.nnThe girl slipped into the stream while she was washing clothes and was washed away by the strong currents. nnThe jawans that jumped into the stream, M G Naidu and N Upendra, were able to rescue the girl, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying.nnThe two constables belong to the 176th battalion of the CRPF, officials said.nnCRPF Director General R R Bhatnagar has declared that the two men will be awarded the DG commendation disc for their ?selfless devotion to duty and exemplary act of saving the life of the girl?, officials told PTI.nnThe girl was later taken to local hospital where doctors declared her out of danger.nnMeanwhile, the locals in the area have appreciated the fforts of the personnel after seeing the video.nn?The five jawans jumped into fast currents of nullah and saved the girl. Had they (jawans) not taken the risk, the girl would have lost her life.
