Dr Subhash Chandra Khuntia is new IRDAI chairman

NEW DELHI: Former IAS officer Dr Subhash Chandra Khuntia was appointed as the new Chairman of Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for three-years.nnHis appointment was approved by Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), IRDAI said in a statement. Dr Khuntia will succeed TS Vijayan, who completed his five-year term in February.nnThe post has been lying vacant since February 21  after the previous chairman T.S.Vijayan retired on completion of his five year term in February.nn?The ACC has approved the appointment of Shri Subhash Chandra Khuntia…To the post of Chairperson, IRDAI for a period of three years w.e.f.?nnHe was 1981-batch IAS officer Dr Khuntia served as the Chief Secretary to the Karnataka government. His appointment comes over two months.He was born in Odisha?s Jagatsinghpur district.nnDr Khuntia, known as an upright IAS officer.nnHe had also worked as Secretary to the Dept of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource & Development.nnDr Khuntia was also serving as Special Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Petroleum & natural Gas.
