RANCHI: JMM president Shibu Soren lost the Dumka (ST) seat to BJP’s Sunil Soren by 47,590 votes, officials said Thursday.nnSimilarly, Babulal Marandi, State?s first chief minister contesting election from Koderma too lost to Annapurna Devi, who joined BJP few months before the election.nnWhile Soren got 4,37,333 votes, Sunil Soren polled 4,84,923 votes, they said. The former chief minister had won the seat eight times.nnThe defeat of two regional heavyweights also indicated the fall of regional parties in State as these two leaders had remained undisputed leader in regional politics. JMM chief Shibu Soren, who had represented Dumka seat for eight times and eying to enter Parliament for nine times failed to create history. Shibu who is popularly known as Dishom Guru in Santhal Pargana was polled 4,35,775, while his rival Sunil Soren of BJP was polled 4,82,806 votes.nnThe victory of Sunil Soren from Dumka seat, which is considered as JMM?s bastion also assume importance as this was the third time when Sunil Soren was in the fray against JMM chief. The BJP?s winning candidate had learnt the nitty-gritty of politics from Shibu Soren, but later switched sides to JMM.nnThe BJP victory from Santhal also establishes the fact that BJP has made a dent in JMM?s bastion Santhal. Out of 18 assembly seats in Santhal Pargana, the JMM has 10 MLAs from the region.
