Harimau Shakti ex: Indian Army demonstrates skills in radio controlled IED

By Anish SinghnnNEW DELHI: The Indian Army on Wednesday demonstrated training on the assembling of a radio controlled explosive device for Malaysian Army on third day of their first-ever joint military exercise ?Harimau Shakti? at Wardieburn camp in Kuala Lumpur.nn?Indian Army combat engineer today conducted troop level training on the assembling of a radio controlled explosive device after the class at Wardieburn Army Camp during Harimau Shakti, a joint exercise happening for the first time on Malaysian soil,? Col Aman Anand, Indian Army PRO said.nnIndian Army contingent is being represented by 4 Grenadiers, one of the oldest infantry battalions which have rich operational experience in conventional as well as counter- insurgency warfare and also known as the Fighting Fourth in the Army circle. While the Malaysian contingent is being represented by soldiers from 1 Royal Ranjer Regiment and the Royal Malay Regiment.nnOn Tuesday, as part of the cross training phase, the Indian army contingent was trained on pitching of bevouc. The day saw heavy rains but despite the inclement weather condition the Indian contingent had hands on experience to pitch bevouc in such conditions, Col Anand added.nnThis training is essential for jungle survival as part of any operations in jungle terrain. ?The class was conducted by Maj Hafizul, the training officer of 12 Brigade. He used natural resources available within the camp to pitch the bevouc,? said the Indian Army PRO.nnAlso, training on field craft and battle craft was conducted at the wardieburn camp by the Instructor staff from the Army Combat Training centre.nnMajor Magenraj instructor from the training centre now posted with the 1 Royal Ranger Regiment conducted the training of Indian Army contingent.nn90 soldiers of Indian Army and about 123 troops of Malaysian Army are participating in the exercise to be concluded on May 13.
