Due to the lack of cancer awareness and dearth of proper screening facilities in tier 2 and 3 cities, most women report at advanced stages, adversely affecting the treatment and care. Over the last decade Gynaecological Cancer cases have shown a rapid increase. This is both owing to better diagnosis and actual rise in incidents. However, it is a curable disease, provided it gets diagnosed at an early stage. Treatment in advanced stages in patients can involve multiple modalities of treatment and chances of reduced post-treatment life expectancy. We have been treating several challenging and complex cases of cancer from this, which validates their growing trust in our services and care.?nnPresent at the press conference was Vinesh Devi, a 42-year-old female presented with abnormal bleeding from her vagina. Her ultrasound results showed that her cervix was bulky and was asked to get a biopsy done. The test biopsy results showed Carcinoma (cancer of cervix). After consultation with the family and the patient she had to undergo an operation and has been successfully treated and is now leading a normal life with regular check-ups.nDr Gupta elaborated that women in the Indian set, are mostly ignorant about their health and not open about Gynae problems. It is important to recognize the symptoms and speak about them at the right time to ensure cancer doesn?t spread and is treated in time.nnShe emphasised that post-operative regular follow ups are an important part of patient care and must not be neglected.nnAnother case was of Santosh, a 62-year-old woman and a diabetic patient with hypertension. She had persistent bleeding even after her menopause. Her ultrasound results showed that the wall of the uterus was thickened, and her biopsy results concluded carcinoma (cancer of uterus).
