As I am quite active on LinkedIn, I came across a post discussing a kind lady. It emphasised that if you don’t assist those in need, no one will truly know who you are when you have everything. Conversely, if you help those in need while you have everything, people will remember you. After all, many can attend your wine party or birthday celebration, but few will come to your funeral.
So simply do it like a young lady named Miss Aroshi Agarwal.
After reflecting on what I read, I thought, why not share her story with others? I truly believe that compelling narratives deserve to be told. I reached out to a LinkedIn user and obtained the email address of a young lady. I sent her an email and received a response from her the following day.
I shared with her that I had read your story and expressed my desire for it to reach a wider audience. Initially, she was hesitant, but after my request, she agreed, albeit with some conditions. She mentioned that she would share everything with me, but asked that I not disclose everything to the world, as her intentions were solely for a higher purpose. Hearing her words truly touched my heart.
Miss Aroshi Agarwal agreed to an hour-long WhatsApp interview with Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo, editor-in-chief of National Political Mirror, discussing her journey towards achieving her dreams for her mother, Mamta Agarwal.Edited excerpts:
National Political Mirror: Share your story with us, including information about your identity, family history, educational experiences, and anything else that helps define you.
Aroshi Agarwal: I am from New Delhi, India. I moved to Amsterdam for my higher education, where I completed my master’s in logistics and supply chain at the University of Amsterdam. Upon finishing my master’s degree, I undertook an internship here, established connections, launched a business, and now, it’s been 5 years since I arrived in Amsterdam.
National Political Mirror: Who founded this business, when, and where? Please explain.
Aroshi Agarwal: Well, if I talk about it, I am the founder of my business, but I can’t reveal the brand name because my company doesn’t do sales, so the brand name doesn’t matter much because we tie up with big brands.
I also started a new business separate from the family business. I founded it in Amsterdam in 2021, and it is a clothing company. I have been doing it in India since 2018.
National Political Mirror: Please share your future business plans.
Aroshi Agarwal: Well, I plan that the business is already set up, so the assets will be sourced from here. I plan to retire in two years, so I have no other plans right now.
National Political Mirror: Who are the important members in your company?
Aroshi Agarwal: I lead my company, as, in contrast to other countries, business is conducted differently here. However, based on my experience, finding someone trustworthy is quite rare.
National Political Mirror: I heard that you are donating 30% of your company’s profits to charity. Could you please share more about the charity, your motivations for this decision, and your future plans?
Aroshi Agarwal:You already know the answer to this question, but I’d like to reiterate that I’m doing it to fulfil my mother’s dream. Mother used to say that if you’re working on a hunger initiative to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry, you’re doing it wrong because you’re increasing poverty.
If you try to remove poverty with free programs, you will only create more #lazy people in society.
If you help the needy every day, you are a god in my eyes since you are working to permanently eliminate poverty in the country.
Yes, in the future, I intend to run it across India with a partner in order to leave a positive legacy for others. So that people will remember my mother forever.
National Political Mirror: Why are you involved in charity and helping those in need?
Aroshi Agarwal: Because God has granted me success at such an early age, why not help people and animals? For me, if a person is in need, they will speak up; however, an animal will not say anything when hungry. They are voiceless. Give them a piece of bread, and they will remember you for the rest of their lives.
National Political Mirror: Currently, which Indian states does your organisation help through philanthropy, and why?
Aroshi Agarwal: Currently, I am only a charity in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh; thus, I have primarily focused on animals there.
National Political Mirror: So far, how many people have benefited from your charity?
Aroshi Agarwal: Right now, I can’t really tell you about it because I’m not keeping track of it; I am simply helping them, and it’s in God’s hands, so I don’t know how many needy people have benefitted, but I can say that I will continue to support them.
National Political Mirror: Who encouraged you to help those in need and why? Please elaborate.
Aroshi Agarwal: My family, as it turns out, has also experienced those days. Generally, my family take care of things on their own, but they also inspire others to step in, ensuring that if we can’t assist directly, someone else can support us in our efforts.
National Political Mirror: Who is a role model in the realm of charity? Please explain.
Aroshi Agarwal: My goals are to continue growing both personally and professionally, with an emphasis on helping others and leaving a positive effect. I enjoy travelling, learning new things, and supporting causes such as animal welfare. My drive stems from a desire to lead a meaningful life and contribute to the well-being of others.
National Political Mirror: Who do you most admire in the charitable world?
Aroshi Agarwal:In the realm of charity, I hold a deep admiration for the late Ratan Naval from the bottom of my heart. Tata Ratan Tata, the esteemed entrepreneur and humanitarian. He was not just a visionary industrialist but also a guy of great compassion, especially for dogs.
