Before I spill the beans about today’s edition of the National Political Mirror, the final edition of 2025, and the announcement of the 2025 Politician of the Year. To begin, today is Wednesday, the last day of 2025, with the date December 31. And I began this creativity in 2024 when I presented a unique idea for talented and hard-working politicians under the headline “2024: Politicians of the Year”.
So, after receiving positive feedback from my well-wishers, individuals who enjoy reading political stories and appreciate my creativity, and the National Political Mirror, I am repeating the concept in 2025 under the title “2025: Politician of the Year”.
And each year, the title “Politician of the Year” goes to the person who has had the greatest impact on politics in the previous 12 months and around the world and who will be remembered for years or forever. So, just as last year, this year National Political Mirror names a politician whose accomplishments have influenced the political landscape.
And, as editor of National Political Mirror, the world’s only weekly political magazine and India’s sole independent media house, I am very strict about secrecy and editorial policy, and I make sure that no one knows who will be “Politicians of the Year” or “Politician of the Year”, so that within the newsroom, only I, our designer, and two close people know who the “Politicians of the Year” or “Politician of the Year” will be. And, on behalf of National Political Mirror, I make a public statement about “Politicians of the Year” or “Politician of the Year”, with names and pictures, by releasing the cover page on my X or Twitter account before the issue goes to print, to ensure that no leaks spoil the surprise.
Let’s get right to the point: Nitin Nabin, a 45-year-old BJP leader, has been named the most fortunate politician in India for 2025 by National Political Mirror, which has awarded him the title of “2025: Politician of the Year” in its special edition. Additionally, Nitin Nabin was named “2025: Politician of the Year” by National Political Mirror, India’s only independent media house, for his devotion to the BJP and its top leaders, which made it possible for him to be named the new working president of the world’s largest political party in December 2025 and for him to be appointed president of the world’s largest political party in January 2026—a position that no other Indian political party could match. And I will explain to you in the following paragraphs why Nitin Nabin was named “2025: Politician of the Year” by the National Political Mirror.
Why Nitin Nabin was named “2025: Politician of the Year”
Now, I should tell you about Nitin Nabin, the new young face of the world’s largest political party, the BJP. As I witnessed at the BJP’s national headquarters, the young crowds were waiting for Nitin Nabin for hours to see him, and there was excitement among youths and the BJP’s young cadres as Nitin Nabin arrived at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi from Patna at approximately 2 p.m. on December 15, 2025, to assume his new role in the BJP’s national headquarters a day after being appointed.
And the reason I say Nitin Nabin is the new young face of the world’s largest political party, the BJP, is that JP Nadda was appointed first as National Working President in 2019 before being elected unanimously and unopposed as the BJP National President in 2020, succeeding Amit Shah. Nitin Nabin will succeed JP Nadda as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President in January 2026.
Meanwhile, Nitin Nabin arrived after 3 p.m. at the BJP’s national headquarters in New Delhi, where he assumed leadership as the party’s working president. And, during the event, many senior leaders from the party were present at the grand ceremony on December 15; his name was officially announced by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on December 14.
As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, I would like to reiterate that I witnessed a large gathering of Nitin Nabin and BJP supporters prior to entering the BJP headquarters and BJP supporters celebrating his (since Nitin Nabin is from Bihar) appointment as the new chief of the party while serving Litti and Chokha with Deshi Ghee (homemade clarified butter) and tangy chutney to all BJP cadres and anyone coming through the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg to the New Delhi Railway Station or Connaught Place. So I enjoyed them so much that I even had five litti and chokha with tangy chutney and Deshi Ghee (homemade clarified butter).
Additionally, Litti and Chokha is a traditional, rustic, and healthy cuisine from Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh made out of baked whole wheat dough balls (Litti) packed with spiced roasted gram flour (Sattu) and served with mashed, smoky vegetables (Chokha). Litti is soaked in ghee, whereas Chokha consists of roasted, mashed aubergine, tomatoes or potatoes.
In addition to Litti and Chokha, BJP supporters served Dahi, Chura, and Chini (yoghurt, flattened rice, and sugar) to BJP cadres and anyone passing via the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg to the New Delhi Railway Station or Connaught Place.
A small-town boy’s journey
In 2006, when his father, seasoned party stalwart Navin Kishore Sinha, passed away, the Patna West assembly seat became available, and Nitin Nabin, then just 26 years old, was put forward by the BJP.
After winning consecutive seats from the now-renamed Bankipur assembly, Nabin, now 45, has served five terms as an MLA in the nearly two decades thereafter and is now the BJP’s new leader, the first by a Bihar leader.
The choice for the party’s top post surprised everyone again, as the BJP has a history of naming dark horses for top positions, and when his name was announced, Nitin Nabin was busy attending public functions in his constituency, thanking party workers for his victory in the 2025 Bihar assembly election. Prior to his appointment as the national working president of the BJP, he served as a cabinet minister in the Bihar government, holding key portfolios like Road Construction, Urban Development & Housing and Law.
At a gathering held prior to his appointment as BJP national working president, he stated that he bows before the party’s people, whose hard labour produces numerous Nitin Nabins.
Top BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself showered effusive praise on Nabin’s appointment as national working president, saying he has distinguished himself as a hardworking Karyakarta.
“He is a young and industrious leader with rich organisational experience and has an impressive record as MLA as well as Minister in Bihar for multiple terms. He has diligently worked to fulfil people’s aspirations. He is known for his humble nature and grounded style of working. I am confident that his energy and dedication will strengthen our party in the times to come,” Modi said.
On the other hand, BJP’s second-highest leader, after Narendra Modi and Home Minister and former party president Amit Shah, stated that Nabin possesses extensive experience of working among the people and his elevation is an honour for every young BJP worker who toils day and night.
Organisation roles
Nitin Nabin has also worked extensively for Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) under the leadership of Anurag Thakur from 2010 to 2015. During this time, Anurag Thakur held the position of BJYM national president, while Nitin Nabin was national general secretary. However, he is well-known for his long-standing organisational skills and administrative knowledge.
During his time with BJYM, he participated in youth mobilisation campaigns, including the National Unity Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir and a tribute march from Guwahati to Tawang commemorating the martyrs of the 1965 war. He has also served as the BJP’s in-charge of Sikkim and co-in-charge of Chhattisgarh, where he participated in organisational operations and electoral campaigns. His role was praised a lot within BJP circles for the party’s revival in Chhattisgarh.
Early Life
Nitin Nabin was born on May 23, 1980, in Ranchi, Jharkhand. His father, Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, was a senior BJP leader and four-time Bihar Legislative Assembly member from Patna West.
He studied at St. Michael’s High School, Patna, from where he passed the CBSE Class X examination in 1996. After that, he attended CSKM Public School in New Delhi for his senior secondary schooling, where he passed the intermediate exam in 1998. He is married to Deepmala Shrivastava, and they have two children: a son and a girl.
Now, I would like to conclude by stating that generational shifts in the BJP are positive signals in politics, as Nitin Nabin of Bihar, the new face of the world’s largest political party–BJP, who has never been Deputy Chief Minister, State President, or Assembly Leader—was appointed to the top party position, beating out several eager seniors.
