Resident Doctors’ Association take out a candle march at AIIMS
NEW DELHI: As decided earlier, Residents Doctors? Association (RDA) & Students Union of AIIMS New Delhi has held a peaceful Candle March in the campus from JL Auditorium to Gate No.1.nn”It is regretfully noted by the medical fraternity across the nation that despite a doctor being union being Health Minister, the entire medical professions autonomy & pride is surrendered to the whims & fancies of politicians & bureaucrats as section 45 of the bill empowers Central Government to override any recommendation/suggestion by National Medical Commission (NMC),” said Dr.Amarinder Singh Malhi, President RDA.nnnn”Central Government can also make any directions to NMC & autonomous boards constituted there-under regarding any policy/matter which has to followed religiously without any argument by the commission. If not mockery of representative democracy, what is all this about??,” he asked.nn”We still hope that necessary amendments will be made in the bill before being passed in Rajya Sabha,” he added.nn”We will continue our protests & hope that good sense will prevail upon our Health Minister & Central Government in the protecting the interests of medical fraternity, upholding the dignity of the profession & keeping interests of health care of the citizens of the nation at large,” said Dr. Malhi.
