Sanjib Ranjan assumes office as Chief Secretary of Tripura
NEW DELHI (INDIA):An 1985-batch IAS officer Sanjeev Ranjan has assumed office as new chief secretary of the state on Tuesday replacing Yashpaul Singh.nnHe replaced Yashpal Singh who retired on the same day and will now take charge as chairman of the Tripura Public Service Commission.nnBoth Ranjan and Singh attended a meeting of the council of ministers.nnRetired chief secretary Y P Singh has accorded a farewell by the officers and employees of Civil Secretariat and he will take the charge of Chairman of TPSC.nnRanjan takes the charges of the 23rd chief secretary of Tripura after it became full fledged state with effect from January 21 1972 though at least six of his predecessors worked as acting chief secretaries for brief period of only months.nnHaving worked in the state administration early in his career as IAS officer Ranjan performed important responsibilities in other states and central ministries.nnHe has been inducted into the crucial post of chief secretary in view of his senior most status among in-service IAS officers of the MT cadre
