Sumeet Mallick is Maharashtra?s new chief secretary
MUMBAI (INDIA): Senior IAS officer Sumit Mullick was today appointed as the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra.nnHe will succeed Swadheen Kshatriya, who was due for retirement on January 31, but was given a month’s extension.nnChief Minister Devendra Fadnavis signed the file on Mullick early this morning, an official from the CMO said.nnMullick, a 1982 batch IAS officer is Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) and currently serving as the Chief Protocol Officer in the General Administration department.nnHe had earlier served as the Divisional Commissioner of Amravati and worked as Secretary of School Education.nnHe was also Secretary to the Governor.nnMullick is the senior most bureaucrat in the state after Kshatriya and will retire in April 2018.nnWhen contacted, Mullick told PTI that he will take charge this evening.nnSource: Press Trust of India
