CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami has launched various initiatives here, the government said today.nnThis included the inauguration of an ‘ultra-modern’ milk pasteurizing unit constructed at an estimated Rs 34 crore at Sozhinganallur near here, an official release said today.nnThe Chief Minister inaugurated the facility through video conferencing from here on Monday, it said.nnThe unit will pasteurize milk procured by state-run Aavin and seal it in 200 ml, 500 ml and one litre sachets which have a shelf life of 90 days in room temperature, it said.nnThere was no need to refrigerate these milk sachets, it said, adding, the move was in line with the government’s aim of providing quality milk to consumers by bettering the related infrastructure.nnFurther, the Chief Minister inaugurated modern Aavin parlours at Vellore and Kanyakumari and veterinary hospital and related facility at Villupuram and Tiruvallur, respectively, it said.nnLaunching initiatives under the Fisheries department, Palaniswami inaugurated fish landing centres and fish breeding centres in different parts of the state like Tiruvallur, Karur and Tirunelveli districts.nnUnder the Health and Family Welfare department, the Chief Minister inaugurated a 200-bed hospital at the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College, constructed at an estimated Rs 28.10 crore.nnFurther, he inaugurated various facilities in different government hospitals in Chennai, Madurai, Nagappattinam and Tiruchirappalli.nnSource: Press Trust of India
