Yes, if children are eligible, they can carry on their parents’ political legacy

BY SANJEEB KUAMR SAHOO
Before I go into why I now support dynasty politics after being against it in my previous tweets, I would like to say that you’ve probably heard that during wedding receptions or any other event, many people say that the doctor asks them to avoid sugar-related sweets or dishes, but despite this, they all eat Rashgula, Gulab Jamun, Rabri, Kheer, ice cream, sweet curd, and other sweet dishes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appear to be implementing similar strategies, as both say something else during poll campaigns and then do something else about dynasty politics, as they speak against dynasty politics during poll campaigns. But, in reality, they appear to promote dynasty politics and politicians and their children, as well as those who are members of the BJP and JDU alliance.  Why did I say, ‘Let me tell you,’ in a couple of paragraphs?

Rashtriya Lok Morcha President and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha’s tweets at 4:20 p.m. on November 21 gave me the confidence to share my thoughts about dynastic politics. Now that I have that confidence, therefore, I will tell you about the BJP partner Rashtriya Lok Morcha President and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha’s tweets, in which he responds to criticism and defends dynastic politics.

Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha, who is now defending, after helping his wife, Snehlata Kushwaha, to become an MLA, then helping his son, Deepak Prakash, to become a minister with the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who are always against dynastic politicians, but Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha’s son, Deepak Prakash, took oath as Bihar Minister following official approval from BJP boss Narendar Modi and JDU boss Nitish Kumar. (Deepak Prakash took his oath as Bihar Minister in front of Narendra Modi and JDU chief Nitish Kumar).

And I firmly believe that Upendra Kushwaha’s son became a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on November 20, 2025, which would be part of the following seat-sharing negotiations for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, which ended on November 14. Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha party is a member of the BJP and JDU-allied NDA in Bihar and the BJP-led NDA in New Delhi.

Additionally, I firmly believe that Upendra Kushwaha agreed to four seats for the Bihar Assembly elections as his party, after the BJP and JDU promised him one MLC seat and one Rajya Sabha seat during the seat-sharing deal. Upendra Kushwaha had originally demanded between twenty and twenty-two seats for the Bihar Assembly elections.

Let’s get right to the point: I agree with a few points made by Upendra Kushwaha on his Twitter account, @UpendraKushRLM, at 4:20 p.m. on November 21, and I’m adding a few more. “Anyway, the eligibility of any person should be assessed on the basis of his ability and capability and not on the basis of his caste or his family,” he tweeted on November 21 at 4:20 p.m.

And I believe Upendra Kushwaha is correct, and I also believe we should follow what he said in light of the current political situation in Bihar and national trends in politics, as Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, stated that the right candidate with a good education background should be elected to the Bihar Assembly regardless of which party the candidate belongs to during the Bihar Assembly Elections.  I, like many others, loved his idea to end caste-based politics in Bihar’s just ended assembly elections and develop a new Bihar with educated youths who have dreams and visions for the state.

However, it appears that Bihar voters rejected Prashant Kishor’s noble ideas for the more than 13 crore people of Bihar, while choosing caste-based candidates, politics, and the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana’s Direct Cash Transfer (DCT) scheme, which provided 1.51 crore women an initial Rs 10,000 transfer to each woman’s bank account to start businesses.

Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana scheme, 1.51 crore women have received Rs 10,000 to each of their bank accounts in five instalments; 75 lakh women received it just four hours before the Bihar Assembly polls were announced, and 76 lakh women received it in five instalments when the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was in effect. The fact is that MCC is implemented immediately whenever any polls are announced in the nation.

However, Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash has yet to become an MLA or MLC, but he must be elected to the Bihar Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad) within six months to continue in his position under Indian constitutional norms.

Rashtriya Lok Morcha President and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha's son Deepak Prakash receives a blessing from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after taking his oath as a minister in the Nitish Kumar government on November 21. Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, is also seen in this photo.

On November 20, 2025, Deepak Prakash took oath as Minister of Panchayati Raj, despite the fact that he was not a member of either the Legislative Assembly (MLA) or the Legislative Council.  To meet the constitutional requirement and keep his ministerial position, he would seek an MLC seat, most likely a vacant one from the BJP quota.

Believe me, caste politics still exists in Bihar.  I am saying this based on the 2025 Morwa Assembly poll results, where Abhay Kumar Singh contested the 2020 Assembly elections as a LJP candidate and received 23,000 votes, but in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly polls, Abhay Kumar Singh contested as an independent candidate and received more than 30,000 votes, finishing third with a majority of Bhumihar supporters.  On the other hand, NDA’s Vidya Sagar Nishad (JDU leader) received almost 69,000 votes, but RJD’s Ranvijay Sahu won the seat with 77770 votes.

Therefore, I am claiming that Abhay Kumar Singh received all of the Bhumhar votes and that both Abhay Kumar Singh and RJD’s Ranvijay Sahu would have received more votes than NDA’s Vidya Sagar Nishad if the cash transfer scheme had not been initiated before the polls. NOTE: My grandmother’s house is located in the Morwa Assembly constituency.

I am saying this because one of my relatives is a “Jeevika Didi” with 187 women under her, and she told me that all 187 women, including their family members, voted for NDA’s Vidya Sagar Nishad, and they all voted while saying, “We have received Rs 10000 in our bank account, and we will get more Rs 2 lakhs as promised by Nitish Kumar.”   So, while caste politics played a role in the just concluded Bihar Assembly elections, the NDA’s landslide victory was mostly owing to direct cash transfers.

I have yet to meet Upendra Kushwaha’s London-returned son, Deepak Prakash. No one is questioning the eligibility of Upendra Kushwaha’s London-returned son, who has just begun his political career by directly becoming a minister in the Bihar government with the blessings of BJP’s top leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as JDU’s boss and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. As both Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar are always against dynasty politics, they speak out against it whenever they have the opportunity to get votes, but they silently and with big hearts support dynasty politics but don’t say it publicly, or they will lose voters’ trust, but voters are more talented; they know everything about Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar.

And, personally, I am opposed to dynasty politics, but I also support politician children who are talented and always willing to serve those in need and who have the right to carry on their politician parents’ political legacy.

As part of his silent endorsement of politically active children and his long-term political career, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed children of BJP members and partner members from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Bihar as Union Ministers after the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024.Narendra Modi also assisted the BJP’s partner members and children from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Bihar in winning elections.

However, for the sake of national interest, I am providing an example from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in which Nitish Kumar’s JDU and Narendra Modi’s BJP helped JDU member Ashok Choudhary’s daughter Shambhavi Choudhary win the Samastipur Lok Sabha seat, Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan win the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, and Ram Vilas Paswan’s son-in-law Arun Bharti in Jamui. Narendra Modi then named Ram Vilas Paswan’s son, Chirag Paswan, as Union Minister.

And believe me when I say that a large number of political families that belong to the BJP and NDA are directly and indirectly encouraged to enter politics by Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar, helping them to get elected in Parliament and Assemblies.

I am not sure about other journalists, but I know each top politician’s strategy for speaking out against dynastic politics during poll campaigns and public gatherings. Therefore, before questioning opposition party members who promote dynastic politics, I would like to request that all BJP and other NDA members and supporters kindly ask the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar not to make any statements about dynastic politics during poll campaigns or any public event.

Because Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s and Nitish Kumar’s words during poll campaigns and public events do not match what they do after poll results, this is the primary reason for their loss of credibility and trust as outstanding politicians in public.  This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu’s son, Nara Lokesh, twice. And I am making this statement based on the facts and official statements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During this year’s International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam on June 21, Narendra Modi singled out Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh for recognition. Narendra Modi, calling Lokesh Bhai, stated, “I want to praise Lokesh profusely. He has proved how a social celebration should be planned and executed and how all sections of society should be brought together in just one and a half months.”

After praising him in June of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Andhra Pradesh government and IT Minister Nara Lokesh in October for the successful ‘Super GST Super Savings’ campaign. “Compliments to the Andhra Pradesh Government, especially Minister Nara Lokesh Garu, for the successful ‘Super GST, Super Savings’ campaign across the state,” Modi said in a comment to X.

I would like to conclude by stating that I have not discussed here the sons and daughters of BJP politicians who are MLAs, MPs, and ministers holding prominent positions in sports organisations like the BCCI, but I will write if necessary, and I forgot to mention that Narendra Modi also supported Eknath Shinde’s son, Shrikant Shinde, to win the Kalyan constituency in Maharashtra. Additionally, in 2024, Narendra Modi helped Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, win an unopposed Rajya Sabha seat.

So, in politics, you cannot have it both ways when it comes to getting voters’ votes, especially when they are both innocent and intelligent. Simply imagine that someone desires opposite things at the same time, such as your friend wanting to eat a lot of cake while also wanting to lose weight.  It indicates you can’t get two items that aren’t compatible.  So, either prominent National Democratic Alliance (NDA) politicians support dynasty politics in each political party or speak out against dynasty politics in the BJP and all NDA alliance partners, including opposition political parties.

Then I and the National Political Mirror (the world’s only weekly political magazine with two editions) will always support top BJP or NDA leaders, because you can’t have it both ways: be known as great leaders for standing up to dynasty politics during election campaigns while also directly or indirectly supporting dynasty politics after the election results, depending on the current political climate.
