Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi did not attend an all-party meeting on West Asia crisis

Before I discuss my thoughts on the #Birla-led big corporate media house giving credit to #NarendrModi’s government because #Iran now allowed India to use the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping, first I would like to say that my #headache began yesterday at 8:35 pm when I was sitting at the union minister’s office in #JantarMantar Lane, #NewDelhi, and ended around 3:15 today.

To cut to the chase, an hour ago, a Birla-led big corporate media house aired a story and said it was India’s big #diplomatic victory and attempted to give credit to the Narendra Modi government and its ministers, as Iran has now allowed India to use the Strait of Hormuz.

However, the truth is that Iran has now allowed friendly countries such as #China, #Russia, #India, #Iraq, and #Pakistan to transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

“We have permitted certain countries that we consider friendly to pass through (Strait of Hormuz). We allowed China, Russia, India, Iraq, and Pakistan to transit,” said Iranian Foreign Minister #SeyedAbbasAraghchi to Iranian State TV.

On the other hand, no big corporate media houses, including news agencies and I, know the real reasons why India’s opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and the prime minister of India Narendra Modi did not attend the all-party meeting on the West Asia crisis that the Narendra Modi-led NDA government called on March 25 in New Delhi.

Lastly, I would like to end my talk by saying that 20 Indian-flagged vessels with around 540 Indian seafarers remain in the western Persian Gulf region. The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) continues close monitoring in coordination with ship owners, RPSL agencies and Indian Missions, according to the PIB press release on March 25, following press conferences that concluded the Inter-Ministerial Briefing on Recent Developments in West Asia.

The Persian Gulf, often known as the #ArabianGulf, is a West Asian Mediterranean Sea. Situated between #Iran (#Persia) and the #ArabianPeninsula, the body of water is an extension of the #ArabianSea and the wider #IndianOcean. The #StraitOfHormuz connects it to the Gulf of Oman in the east. The northwest coastline is formed by the Shatt al-Arab river delta.

NOTE:1:- Luckiest politician

India’s Prime Minister serves as the country’s head of government. The prime minister must be a member of one of India’s bicameral Parliaments while also serving as its leader. The Prime Minister and cabinet are always accountable to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament.

After ten years of absolute majority rule, the coalition era has returned to Indian politics, with top #BJP leader Narendra Modi becoming Prime Minister for the third time after the NDA elected him to lead the alliance. Modi not only became Prime Minister for the third time, but he also won the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat for the third straight term.

On the other hand, Modi took his oath as Prime Minister on June 9, 2024, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, among 72 other ministers.

Modi equalled Jawaharlal Nehru’s record of three consecutive terms as India’s first Prime Minister. But in the 1951–1952 Lok Sabha Elections, the Congress won 364 of the 489 seats; in the 1957 Lok Sabha Elections, the party won 371 seats; and in the 1962 Lok Sabha Elections, the Congress, led by Nehru, won 361 of the 494 seats.

At the same time, the BJP secured 282 seats in 2014, 303 seats in 2019, and 240 seats in 2024, out of a total of 543 seats. The political landscape was significantly different from 1951 to 1962, as there were fewer political parties available. However, from 2014 to 2024, there was a greater number of political parties in the country, and they also participated in Lok Sabha polls.

Note: 2-What is the role of the opposition leader

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was appointed India’s opposition leader following the 2024 Lok Sabha election results,is holding a constitutional position for the first time since entering politics in 2004, when he won his first election from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

The Leader of the Opposition is an important figure in parliamentary proceedings, providing the necessary checks and balances on the ruling government. They ensure that different points of view are taken into account and that alternative viewpoints are represented.

The Leader of the Opposition is frequently referred to as the “shadow prime minister” and leads a shadow Cabinet, which is a group of opposition members who mirror the roles of the government’s Cabinet. This shadow Cabinet is prepared to take over the government if the current one falls.

One of the primary responsibilities of the Leader of the Opposition is to ‘effectively’ question the government’s policies. The role of Leader of the Opposition is extremely difficult because he must ensure that the government is accountable to the legislature and the public, as well as present alternatives to government proposals/policies.
